What is TACT?

 

Tibetan Acupressure – Compassionate Touch (TACT) is based upon a system of control points using the vibration of healing energy to heal, relieve pain, and to remove the symptoms as well as the cause of illness. Many ancient civilizations including the Tibetans, understood that there are pressure points in the feet and hands that correspond to various organs and systems throughout the body. These reflex maps were used to treat the body and mind as a holistic system, removing stress and restoring physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

An ancient system of reflexive pressure point healing, this system accesses the body’s natural corrective energies in order to bring it to balance. The system is both subtle and profound.

 

What makes the system unique is the movement of the finger and a twist of the wrist, delivering a connection to the point and allowing the body to deliver the correct electrical impulse. As a result, pressure is not required and yet the point is stimulated causing a flow of energy through the meridian that is at a most suitable frequency for the receiver, determined by the body, not the practitioner.

During the session, the delivering partner is doing the practice of Loving Kindness and Tonglen with the receiving partner. The practice of Loving Kindness sends happiness and peace. Tonglen, the compassion practice of giving and receiving, is breathing in suffering and sending out joy, healing and love. It is a constant learning practice for the partner delivering the work since they must constantly remain present and remove their own fears and barriers to experience in order to deliver loving kindness and compassion to their partner.

Tibetan Acupressure is best administered with the client sitting upright and fully dressed in a chair or wheelchair, or alternatively with the client lying in a bed or on a massage table.

What conditions can be worked with?

 

Although TACT can be used for the most serious conditions, the reflex points can also be applied for day-to-day wear-and-tear proactive healing as well as anxiety, stress and even the common sinus ailment.

 

As sessions are gentle anyone can benefit from its effects including babies and children, the elderly, pregnant women (certain points are restricted) and nursing mothers.
